C-G-R are an independent label initially set up in 2003, essentially to aid bands with copyrighting their material and advising on the best ways to develop as a band. Following various projects and expansion work C-G-R has been involved in commercial releases since 2004 with 2007 being a year of immense plans for a once small project. C-G-R have worked on various projects and are always interested in doing something a bit different!
C-G-R are not currently looking to increase their catalogue of acts and are not offering any development contracts at this time; though any submissions will be given due consideration on a proposal-by-proposal basis
“Consistently Great Records has ploughed a long and deep furrow in the make-up of everyone who's been involved over the years but as an entity precedes its 2003 inception date.
I met Psy at college in 1999 when we were both taking A-level Accounting of all un-rock things! Following many drunken times spent on the bandstand in town, in the library and often in lectures too, we inevitably discussed our various musical exploits and the genius that is ‘smoke on the water’ – Budweiser has a LOT to answer for [as does Becks, AfterShock, JD etc… ah ‘The Bear’ – far from college and a place we called home
After an eventful two years of drinking and lusting after girls I snuck into Loughborough University on a Management degree leaving Psy, Stoke and my failed music behind, Psy signed a development contract between LiViD and Blue Chip and that chapter looked like it was at an end.
After feeding back on no less than four LiViD EPs in my own inimitable and caring manner AND after meeting up with Peter Hewitt-Dutton at the start of my industry year Psy said it was time for me to put up or shut up and help the band improve… so after a rum stained contract, ££LOTS and a trip to Abbey Road “When I’m Steamin’ Windows” was released.
During the seven months between concept and release I set up Midas Management to umbrella over my various business interests and C-G-R was born initially during a drunken night out spending way too much time talking about Jon Bon Jovi as I recall.
Unfortunately LiViD mentor’s untimely demise around Christmas 2003 lead to the “HELP” “but I don’t know what I’m doing” “YOU’LL LEARN!” conversation between myself and Psy which meant that C-G-R had to become a viable copyright entity and a recognised label ASAP.
So after a huge amount of research and numerous reconfigurations C-G-R eventually became a Midas Management/LiViD company while LiViD became an official partnership
Lots happened for the next 18months to keep us all busy and learning until ANOTHER daft conversation between myself and - this time - Steve Paris resulted in the band’s new home ‘The CaddyShack’ morphing into a recording studio in September 2005
Following re-locating to Stoke and purchasing the Millenium Falcon DAF 400 LiViD hit the road and The CaddyShack churned out 50 original songs and the ‘ROCK HARDER’ EP before an internal redesign by some kids with hammers in June 2006 closed the studio doors and derailed the train.
Hard work, an aborted facility move and various forged partnerships with third parties brought C-G-R back strong for 2007 with a shining pedigree and ready to start the next chapter of the story which, no matter how many other projects we get involved in, will always tie those who’ve been involved together forever…
There’s a lot more detail about what we’ve been doing over the years but I honestly think that I’ve waffled on for too long SO:
Thanks to everyone who’s been involved throughout and help along the way – I offer my continuing gratitude, to everyone who’s actively hindered our progress, well – !”
